RICHMOND

Apart from the amazing outdoors, which we never grow tired of, the Georgian market town of Richmond (the original one) is approximately 5 miles away. With its medieval castle, museum and market square, river and range of coffee shops, bars, restaurants and local shops, it really does have everything you need

FARM SHOPS

A few minutes walk away is the newly opened Larch Barn Farm Shop and Cafe. Great meat, knick-knacks and gifts, as well as serving delicious food, including Sunday lunch. A little further to walk, across the fields, is Mainsgill Farm Shop, which has gifts and a wide range of food. A short drive away (about four miles) is Thorpe Farm Centre, which has an excellent farm shop as well as a gifts and interiors shop and an antiques and reclamation section. They also have an excellent cafe and restaurant.

REETH

A little further inside the Yorkshire Dales National Park lies Reeth, a stunning Dales village with picturesque walks, scenic views, cozy coffee shops, welcoming pubs, and a delightful ice cream parlor. The village is also known for its vibrant music scene and for hosting the Swaledale Festival. Just outside Reeth, the Dales Bike Centre offers a wide range of bike-related services and is likely the largest bike hire center in the Yorkshire Dales. Additionally, the center serves delicious food and drinks.

YORKSHIRE DALES

The Yorkshire Dales form part of the chain of Pennine uplands running up the centre of northern England. Drystone walls skirt around rocky outcrops, trees and streams producing intricate patterns on the landscape. The sheltered dales are home to small villages and farmsteads, built of local stone and often protected by clumps of trees. Meadows are scattered with stone field barns. Above on the steepest slopes there are sparse woodlands or open rock scree, with fast-flowing streams tumbling into dramatic waterfalls. Our heritage can still be seen. Discover where the earth was mined for its lime and lead or follow the ancient tracks of travellers and traders between the individual dales.

NORTH YORKSHIRE

North Yorkshire is England’s largest county, and many of the people who live or visit the area will tell you it is one of the most picturesque and a terrific place to spend any amount of time. From the Yorkshire Dales in the west, past the city of York – which is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations – through the North York Moors to the magnificent Yorkshire Coast towns of Scarborough and Whitby, North Yorkshire truly has the lot for visitors, from historic sights to impressive natural wonders.

LOCAL FOOD & DRINK

On the doorstep lies the Bay Horse Pub, just a two-minute walk across the village green. It has a well-deserved reputation for amazing food – booking is essential for dining.
