THE STUDIO

A studio room, overlooking the garden and fields beyond, with ensuite toilet/shower and kitchenette, sleeping 2 guests. It may be possible to accommodate a 3rd guest, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. Accessed via the main entrance, you will have a key to the house and your room, for complete privacy. We use the back door but will access the entrance hall from time to time. Your accommodation is on the first floor, accessed by a staircase, with 2 steps inside the room, down to the main living space. The kitchenette contains everything you need for rustling up light meals and snacks. The breakfast bar-style table provides a space to eat and there is a comfy sofa and a smart TV for relaxed evenings. You’ll sleep on a comfortable double bed, with dreamy bedlinen, supplied by a local company. The ensuite includes an electric heated shower with ocean-friendly, shampoo/body wash and conditioner. We’re still working to make the outside of our property as beautiful as the inside but don’t worry, all the dirty, noisy stuff is done. There is plenty of peaceful space in the garden and front of the house, to enjoy a glass of something on a warm evening. On cooler evenings, snuggle up by the fire pit and toast marshmallows. You may even be able to chat with the sheep in the field at the bottom of the garden and when they escape, on the village green too!

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS

How far away is Richmond?
Richmond is about 5 miles away. It has lots of parking or you can take the number 79 bus from the bottom of the village green, just stick out your hand.
Is it easy to park in Richmond?
You will find a parking disc in the room. This gives you free parking in Richmond Market Square and New Biggin for 2 hours, Mon-Sat, no restriction after 6pm or on Sunday. Set it to the correct time when you arrive, parking wardens do check, so don’t be tempted to overstay.

There is also 2 hours free parking at Lidl with other paid parking areas along Victoria Road. The Nuns Close car park, opposite thecricket ground, is long stay.
Is there a market nearby?
Market days in Richmond are Wednesday and Saturday: small market with green grocer, fishmonger etc. Saturdays between Easter and October, often are larger markets with non-food and gift stalls.

There are monthly craft markets in the Town Hall and a daily non-food market in the Victorian Covered Market.

There are weekend artisan markets, at some of the bigger towns in North Yorks; check out Little Bird Markets on Facebook.

A two minute walk across the village green, is the Bay Horse, a pub known for it’s amazing food (booking essential) but you can also just pop in for a drink; 01325 494437.

For good pub grub, The Shoulder of Mutton at Kirby Hill, is approx. 1.5 miles away; 01748 905011. It’s definitely walkable along the roadside and downhill on the way back! There is a footpath across the hill but it is a bit tricky in the dark and we don’t recommend it.
What about food?
For coffee, cakes, breakfasts and lunches, Stoneygate Farm is less than 10 minutes walk away. They do the best bacon we’ve had in a longtime and you can buy their produce and some essentials, in the farm shop. They also do a Steak Night on Saturdays and a Sunday lunch menu.
